So This Is The New Year:

How do I do a recap for the most incredible year I've had to date? With photos perhaps?!
HERE WE GO!

Number one on the list was to have my longest-running dream finally come true: AFRICA.

Living with the greatest friends for our final year. Whew, I can make the rest of the post all about them, but I think this photo describes it best.

Meeting Gaga on a rainy morning when I least expected it. Dreams I tell ya, dreams.

Getting to assist on-location for a Country Living shoot down in Georgia. My eyes couldn't handle all the beauty, my belly all the Southern food, or my hands all the fancy equipment. Definitely learned more over a long weekend than an entire semester of photo classes.

Spending the first day on the job with TED/InsideOut Project pasting portraits throughout the city under the cover of night. So much stealth, so little time. I love it all.

Getting to work for David LaChapelle. Flipping through his negatives, getting to hold original Warhols..it all is too surreal still to process. And yes, I realize three favorite things about this year are about jobs....I have turned into that person.

---Better days--

There also were two things that made this year especially tough:

Leaving the comfort + love of living at home for the craziness of NY where I was originally jobless, friendless, and having my own home-less. (Thanks brother for helping me out, yet again..)

And having to say goodbye to my sweet pup Pokey. I know my entire family still misses him daily...but at least he brought us joy for 13 ridiculous and loving years.

Thanks for the beauty, 2011. Cheers to the next year being the best year.
